Poker News BoyThe World Series of Poker has been stealing the headlines over the past week but there are still plenty of other stories happening in the world of poker. Here is a look at some of the stories over the past week that you have missed while following the 2012 WSOP.

Sam Trickett puts thief on blast

Sam Trickett decided to call out a still unnamed poker player who apparently stole some money from the UK poker pro. Trickett made the announcement on his Twitter account, and has kept the player’s identity secret at this time –giving him a chance to make things right before Trickett publicly outs him.

Here is a look at the Tweet Trickett sent out:

“I had money stolen from me by a well known poker pro, that i thought was my friend! If he dont call me soon,Igoing to expose him 4 what he is”

We’ll have to wait and see if there is a private resolution or if Trickett will have his Bluff called and out the person who stole from him.

PokerStars VIP Program changes

While the largest poker tournament series is taking place, the largest online poker room made their own announcement regarding their VIP Program. PokerStars announced this week that players can now cash in their FPP’s for cash much sooner than was previously allowed. Even though the exchange rate remains the same, the lowering of the minimum FPP conversion to cash will be a very welcome change for online poker players.

Players still awaiting news on PokerStars/Full Tilt deal

The May 23rd/25th deadline has come and gone for the PokerStars purchase of their one-time rival Full Tilt poker, and while poker players haven’t given up on the deal just yet, the lack of news has been disheartening to say the least. The latest rumors have the deal happening at some point during the WSOP, but as we’ve learned… Don’t hold your breath!

Team Matchbook announced

We all know that online poker sites like PokerStars and Lock Poker are going to be sending strong contingents of sponsored poker pros to the WSOP in Las Vegas, but there is a new entry in the sponsored player market and it’s not a poker room. UK online sports-book Matchbook.com has announced the roster of players they will be sending to Las Vegas, and there is some serious firepower on their roster, including Sam Trickett and Daniel “Jungleman” Cates. Joining the two stars will be JP Kelly, Matt Perrins, Roberto Romanello, James Akenhead, Martins Adeniya, Jarred Solomon and John Hewitt.
