Jamie Gold opens new online poker room

The months after Black Friday is probably not the best time to be starting an online poker venture, but the fact that the US market has basically been cut-off from online poker didn’t deter 2006 World Series of Poker Champion Jamie Gold from launching his latest project: FreeGoldPoker.com.

FreeGoldPoker.com looks to be a free to play online poker room –which allows it to conform with current US online poker laws—and although few details are given on the website itself, it does claim to be a “No Deposits – No Risk – 100% US Legal – Win Cash & Prizes Daily – Always Free – Zero Adware & Spyware” online poker site.

So what will you win at FreeGoldPoker.com? According to the site’s homepage:

* $100,000 in Monthly Cash and Prizes

* Texas Hold’em, Royal Hold’em and Video Poker

* UFC, WWE Gear and Event Trips and Tickets

* Cameras, Home Electronics and Other Valuable Prizes

* Poker Articles, Tools and Tips

* Watch Game Play Through “Poker TV”

So apparently the site is a cross between Zynga Poker –a completely free online poker room with no real prizes—and subscription-based online poker room –which costs a monthly fee to join and offers tournament prizes.

I’m not sure when the official launch of the site will take place, or what Gold’s position and title within the company is at this time, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as more details emerge. Anyone interested in registering at FreeGoldPoker.com can do so right from the site’s homepage: FreeGoldPoker.com
