PokerStars dominates new online poker traffic numbers

PokerStars versus Full TiltPrior to Black Friday, PokerStars controlled an estimated 50% of the online poker traffic in the world, with Full Tilt poker a distant second with a further 25% of the online poker traffic. That left a 25% piece of the pie for the hundreds of other online poker rooms to fight over –although this is a bit of misstatement since many players have accounts at multiple online poker rooms.

With Black Friday utterly decimating Full Tilt Poker and UB/Absolute Poker, PokerStars managed to weather the storm virtually unscathed, thanks to their adherence to ethical business practices, and what seems like an actual game-plan for just such an emergency. Because of this, PokerStars’ position in the online poker world has actually increased thanks to the loss of the US market (about 25% of all online poker players) and the falls from grace of UB/Absolute and chief rival Full Tilt Poker.

A look at the numbers generated by PokerScout.com shows PokerStars boasting a 7-day average of over 25,000 cash-game players, with the next nearest competitors, Party Poker and the iPoker Network clocking in at around 4,000 cash-game players! Furthermore, PokerStars.it is ranked 4th on the list, and PokerStars.fr is ranked 7th!

If the goal of the US Department of Justice was to create an absolute monopoly in the online poker industry, it seems they have achieved their mission objective, as PokerStars is not just the #1 site in the industry; they have almost nothing to worry about from the sites behind them! There is no longer a Full Tilt Poker to be the Red Sox to PokerStars Yankees; now there are simply a number of Milwaukee Brewers!
