200 poker players remain in WSOPE
After two Day 1 flights at the Casino of the Empire in London, England, the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event field will be combined for Day 2 play. 200 players remain out of the original 346 entrants, with some of poker’s biggest names scattered up and down the leader-board, as well as on the rail.
A couple of players that were surely the focus of the room –thanks to the multi-million dollar bracelet bets they are involved in– had very different results yesterday: Phil Ivey ended the day in 4th place overall on the leader-board, while Tom Dwan lasted just a couple of levels before he was sent packing.
However, everyone is looking up at chip-leader James Mitchell. The Irish Open Champion has a strong lead over the rest of the field heading into Day 2.
Here is a look at the unofficial top 10 chip counts heading into Day 2 of the WSOPE, courtesy of PokerNews.com’s live reporting:
1. James Mitchell — 190,000
2. Hoyt Corkins — 150,000
3. Steven van Zadelhoff — 146,000
4. Phil Ivey — 145,000
5. Leo Margets — 143,000
