2010 champ David Williams still alive at WPT Championship
David Williams reignited his career at last year’s $25k World Poker Tour Championship, where he went on to win one of poker’s most coveted titles as well as $1.5 million in prize-money –not to mention landing a coveted Team PokerStars Pro deal soon thereafter—and with just 52 players remaining in the 2011 WPT Championship, there is Williams once again right in the thick of things heading into Day 4 of the tourney.
There is still a lot of poker to be played, and with just 27 places being paid, 25 of the remaining players will be going home empty-handed. The real prize of course being the $1.6 million that the winner will receive, as well as the prestige that goes along with winning the WPT Championship.
Joining Williams is a host of young talent like Galen Hall, Steven Kelly, Christian Harder, Justin Young, Sam Trickett, Roberto Romanello, Ashton Griffin, Joseph Cheong, Justin “boosted” Smith, Scott Seiver, Andy Frankenberger, and Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger, as well as a few of poker’s old guard, most notably Doyle Brunson.
Here is a look at the chip leaders at the end of Day of the tournament:
1. Sam el Sayed – 1,107,000
2. Nenad Medic – 1,098,500
3. Steven Kelly – 1,005,000
4. Christian Harder – 887,000
5. Roger Teska – 846,000

8. Tony Gargano – 725,500
9. Justin Young – 688,000
10. Alan Sternberg – 676,500
Day 4 should see the field pop the money bubble, and is scheduled to begin at Noon local time on Tuesday.
