£24,000 Raised At Recent Poker For Heroes
Earlier in the year we brought you the news that the Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club in

Nottingham were to hold a special charity event. The event in question was ‘Poker For Heroes‘, an event organised in memory of Corporal Liam Riley, and all our other fallen heroes. Well the totals have been added up and a grand total of £24,000 has been raised. A great effort by all concerned I am sure you will agree. Liam unfortunately lost his life
whilst on patrol in Helmand Provence, when he stepped on an explosive device in attempting to rescue one of his injured colleagues. His mum, Cheryl Routledge, was the driving force behind the recent event and she was interviewed recently by the Sheffield Star when she had the following to say, “We needed somewhere big and the people at Dusk Till Dawn were brilliant. They let us have the venue rent free and paid for all the staff’s wages. It took a lot of organising as I had to contact all the players and various companies to ask them if they would donate prizes, but within an hour of sending out emails I was getting replies. It’s been quite amazing how much support we have been given.” There are already plans for another event next year, and even thoughts on making it an annual affair. Cheryl and her team of organisers hope to raise even more money for this great charity, Help For Heroes, and she also said, “The people at Dusk Till Dawn say so many people are interested that if I don’t raise £45,000 they will make it up. It’s just fantastic.” Yes it is Cheryl and you should be applauded for the work you are doing in memory of your beloved son. If the poker world can help keep Liam’s, and other soldiers memory alive it can only be a good thing I’m
