CNBC Investigates takes a hard look at illegal gambling

CNBCIn an upcoming expose on the world of illegal gambling CNBC Investigates reporter Mellissa Francis will examine numerous angles including the role the Internet plays in illegal gambling. The show is set to premiere on December 16th at 9PM EDT.

The show’s focus appears to be on sports-betting, with segments that include an interview with an illegal bookmaker; an interview with a professional sports gambler who uses legal and illegal outlets to place his bets; gambling addiction; the mob’s role in the world of illegal gambling; and how the Internet has increased access to gambling.

As with any investigative reporting we will have to wait and see what light CNBC decides to portray gambling in general –and more importantly to poker players, if online poker is shown in a good or bad light, and if it’s lumped in with other forms of gambling—but the show states it will give both sides to the story.
