GPI update: ElkY hangs on top Seidel climbs to #2

Despite nobody in the top 10 producing any meaningful results this past week there was a big surge by Erik Seidel, who shot all the way up to #2 on the leader-board –although he was sitting at #3 so its not that impressive– bypassing Jason Mercier, but falling short of overtaking Betrand “ElkY” Grosspellier for the top spot on the Global Poker Index rankings.

Looking at the top 25 players the biggest mover of the week was Carlos Mortensen, who jumped 12 spots and now sits in the #19 hole on the Top 300 rankings. Other big movers included Olivier Busquet, who jumped 24 spots to #29; William Thorson, who moved up 20 spots to #35; as well as two WSOP Champions in Jonathan Duhamel and Joe Hachem who both had a 30+ spot jumps to break into the top 100.

4. Eugene Katchalov — 2248.83

6. Samuel Stein — 2168.85

7. Sorel Mizzi — 2115.12

8. Thomas Marchese — 2035.66

9. David ‘Bakes’ Baker — 2027.32

10. John Juanda — 2013.63
