Poker News BoyPhil Hellmuth won his 13th World Series of poker Bracelet this week and in the process became the first person to win both the WSOP Main Event and the WSOPE Main Event, not to mention sewing up the 2012 WSOP Player of the Year award. But believe it or not there was other news in the poker world that had nothing to do with Phil Hellmuth! And here is a look at some of the stories you may have missed.

Jon Augiar and Brandon Cantu to play $130k S&G

After a “controversial” semi-finals and finals, Brandon Cantu was none too happy with the WSOP, and voiced his displeasure in an interview with PokerNews after losing to Jon Augiar. This prompted a back and forth on Twitter and it appears the two will play a Heads-Up S&G for the $130k difference in prize-money between 1st and 2nd place! Stay tuned as the specifics are ironed out for this match.

PokerStars Beta testing new software including Run-it-Twice feature

PokerStars announcement this week that it will be overhauling its software platform has sent ripples through the poker world, and we now have our first glimpse at some of the changes as PokerFuse.com is reporting that the Beta version of the software now has a “Run-it-Twice” option.

Like other site’s that feature a Run-it-Twice option players must opt-in beforehand, and if all of the players involved in a pot have opted-in the software will “run-in-twice”.

Bodog Poker closing in the UK and Europe

After leaving some 20 European markets earlier this year it looks as if the Bodog brand will be closing down its online poker operations in Europe and the UK, although the site will still offer casino games to these locales.

Currently the Bodog.co.uk website is down for maintenance, but when it comes back online there will no longer be a sportsbook or poker option. Bodog’s corporate structure is about as convoluted as it gets, with Bodog.asia, Bodog.ca, and Bovada.lv all operating under the Bodog brand, and Bodog.asia owning the Bodog.co.uk arm of the gaming empire –confused yet?
