A lot of big name poker pros have been doing very well in this go- round of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker. This time it was Team PokerStars pro Jason Mercier doing the honors by capturing the title in Event #42, a $1,000 buy-in No Limit Holdem event, worth an astounding $435k!

With a total of 3,122 entrants the tournament’s total prize-pool soared to over $3 million, far exceeding the guarantee the tournament offered. Mercier was involved in a three-way deal at the end of the tournament that was based on stack-size, and allocated an additional $15,000 for 2nd place and $60,000 for 1st place.

Mercier wasn’t the only big name at the final table, joining him were Doyles Room pro Dani “Ansky” Stern –who plays under the name Supernova9 on PokerStars, and Mercier’s fellow Team PokerStars pro Chad Brown. However, both Brown and Stern were the first two players eliminated from the final table.
