Lamb leads WSOP Main Event after two days of play
It seems Ben Lamb is not going to simply concede the 2011 World Series of Poker Player of the Year award to Phil Hellmuth, considering Lamb will head into Day 3 of the WSOP Main Event on Thursday as the chip-leader with over 550,000 chips. Lamb will not be freerolling Hellmuth though, as the Poker Brat also managed to survive his Day 2 flight, albeit with a much shorter stack of around 65k.
Lamb has been crushing at the 2011 WSOP with a win in the $10k PLO Championship, a runner-up finish in the $3k PLO tournament, an 8th place finish in the $50k Players Championship, and a 12th place finish in the $10k NLHE 6-Max Championship already under his belt.
Over the course of Day 2a and Day 2b only Lamb and poker pro Kevin Saul managed to chip-up over 500,000 chips, but with over 2,000 players still remaining in the field, heading into Day 3 with the chip-lead doesn’t even qualify you as “likely to cash!”
Here is a look at some of the other big name players who managed to survive Day 2b at the 2011 WSOP Main Event: Patrik Antonius, Sam Stein, Justin Bonomo, Tony Hachem, Shawn Keller, Jeff Madsen, Joseph Cheong (last year’s 3rd place finisher), David Oppenheim, Scott Shelley, David Baker, Ionel Anton, John Racener (last year’s runner-up), Josh Tieman, Kevin MacPhee, Matt Savage, Lyle Berman, Victor Ramdin, Erick Lindgren, Thomas Keller, David Vamplew, Dan Kelly, Leif Force, David Sands, Scott Clements, Mickey Petersen, Jon Friedberg, Matt Stout, Taylor Caby, Darus Suharto, Galen Hall, Scott Palmer, Jean-Robert Bellande, Fernando Brito, Emil Patel, Richard Lyndacker, Brian Micon, Blair Hinkle, Robert Croak, Matt Matros, Brian Lemke, Amit Makhija, Allen Cunningham and Todd Brunson: All of whom have over 100,000 chips.
