The North American Poker Tour event at Mohegan Sun began with 716 players on Day 1 and by the end of the first day of play only 443 players remained; of those 443 players only 125 will return for Day 3 of the tournament.

Among those 125 players are a slew of poker pros including chip-leader Jordan Morgan who is sitting on 705,100 chips. Deuces Cracked instructor Vanessa Selbst is in 3rd place with 542,600; 2009 WSOP final table member James Akenhead is in 6th place with 463,700; Akenhead is closely followed by Ryan D’Angelo, Lars Bonding and Sorel Mizzi. The biggest name in the tournament sits in 13th place, a player who goes by the name of Phil Ivey.

Day 1 chip-leader David Williams is still going strong, but has fallen back to the middle of the pack, and will begin Day 3 with 213,000 chips. Other big names still vying for the title include Vanessa Rousso, Dennis Phillips, Paul Wasicka, Tom Marchese, Jeff Madsen, Maria Ho, Eric Froehlich, and Cliff Josephy.

With the money bubble about to burst, at 104, fans can expect eliminations to slow-down a bit at the beginning of today’s play, since elimination between 105 and 125 costs you $7,500 and very few of the pro players live in “Middle of Nowhere Connecticut” so there are some travel expenses to consider.
