On Friday, 367 players registered for the 2012 PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) Grand Final in Brazil, and among the competitors was Team PokerStars Pro, and the face of the company, Daniel Negreanu, who was making his first trip to Brazil.

Negreanu wouldn’t get much time to explore the nightlife and party scene of Brazil though, considering he made the final table of the tournament, before being eliminated on Monday when his Top-Pair-Medium-Kicker hand ran into an over-pair on the flop. Negreanu did manage to finish the tournament in 6th place, adding another $48,730 to his ever-growing total of career tournament earnings.

Negreanu, who started 2011 as the all-time money leader in tournament poker history lost the #1 spot to Erik Seidel during the 2011 campaign, and was passed by yet another player after Phil Ivey dominated the 2012 Aussie Millions last month. Obviously, the hyper-competitive Negreanu is well aware of this fact, stating that #1 spot was one of his goals for 2012 in a blog post at the beginning of the year.

Here is a look at the seven other competitors that started the final table with Negreanu on Monday, including their chip-counts and seat assignments:

* Seat 4: Carlos Ibarra — 1,297,000

* Seat 5: Daniele Nestola — 1,892,000

* Seat 6: Juan Gonzalez — 548,000

* Seat 7: Gasperino Nicolas — 1,190,000

* Seat 8: Vitor Torres — 273,000

The winner of the tournament is set to receive a $324,600 payday and the title of LAPT Season 4 Grand Final Champion. And here is a look at how the final table participants fared at Monday’s “Live-Streamed” Final Table:

1st place: Daniele Nestola — $324,600

2nd place: Gasperino Nicolas — $214,700

3rd place: Carlos Ibarra — $148,840

4th place: Felipe Morbiducci — $89,570

5th place: Jonathan Markovits — $64,540

6th place: Daniel Negreanu — $48,730

7th place: Vitor Torres — $35,560

8th place: Juan Gonzalez — $26,340

The final players entertained a deal during three-handed play, with Daniele Nestola, the chip-leader at the time, pushing for it. However, the other two players Nicolas and Ibarra decided to play it out instead of taking a deal.

Last year the LAPT Grand Final was held in Rosario, Argentina, with 254 players registering for the $4,700 + $300 buy-in Championship tournament. This year the Grand Final was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and with 367 entrants anteing-up the R$4,000 buy-in, this was easily the largest Grand Final in the history of the PokerStars LAPT – the $1.3 million prize-pool nearly eclipsed the record set at the Season 2 stop in Mar del Plata, Argentina where the prize-pool eclipsed the $1.4 million mark.
