PokerStars EPT Grand Finale reaches play down day
Day 3 of the 2011 PokerStars European Poker Tour Grand Finale saw 104 players return to the poker tables in Madrid, Spain knowing that only 24 players would be proceeding to Day 4 of the tournament with the hopes of taking down the EPT Grand Finale title and the €1.5 million in first-place prize-money – although the knowledge that each of the remaining players was guaranteed a payday of at least €15,000 likely alleviated some of the stress associated with a deep-run in a major tournament.
A number of big names hit the rail on Day 3, with only a handful of “name” players remaining amongst the final 24: Victor Ramdin made it through to Day 4, as did Andrew Li, Dag Palovic, Alex Gomes, and Juan Macerias. Not so fortunate were Melanie Weisner, Ted Forrest, William Reynolds, Will Molson, Eugene Katchalov, Ivan Demidov and a whole host of other top flight poker players, all of whom were shown the exit on Day 3.
