PokerStars signs Mickey Petersen to Team Online
Just days after parting ways with three long-time members of Team PokerStars –Tom McEvoy, Dennis Phillips, and Bill Chen—PokerStars has now added a fresher face on the poker scene, signing online poker tournament legend Mickey “Mement_Mori” Petersen to their Team Online roster.
The signing comes just a day after Petersen final tabled Event #29 in the PokerStars WCOOP, and signals the shift in marketing that has been taking place across the poker world since Black Friday. The three players let go by PokerStars were all American-based live tournament pros (all three players were also older players, well past middle-aged) while Petersen is a young Scandinavian superstar.
Petersen let the cat out of the bag during an appearance on PokerStars WCOOP Radio show where he stated: “I see signing with world’s biggest online site as the next logical step in my career and hopefully I’ll be able to build on my resume live as well as online and promote both PokerStars and the game in a positive light,”
Here is a look at a few of Mickey “Mement_Mori” Petersen’s career accomplishments:
* Over $4 million in career online tournament winnings
* 16 cashes in the 2010 SCOOP tournament series
* Won over $300k in the 2010 SCOOP series
* Nearly $250k in live tournament earnings
* Biggest online score was $160k payday for a runner-up finish in the 2010 SCOOP $2k NLHE tournament
