Prop bet highlights $1k NLHE tournament on Sunday

One of the more sinister prop bets in poker history occurred during the $1k No Limit Holdem on Sunday courtesy of Antonio Esfandiari –one of the more prolific pro bettors in poker to begin with—but unlike the usual side-bet between poker players this time around it was a railbird who would be wagering with Esfandiari.

According to PokerNews.com’s live reporting team an Antonio fan was on the rail of the $1k NLHE event and chatting up Antonio, telling him how much he liked his show I Bet You. Considering he ended the tournament among the chip-leaders Antonio was definitely in a betting mood, and gave his fan a $100 freeroll; the catch being he had touch Tom Dwan’s hair for 10 seconds.

This was an easy win for Andrew Chevalier of Rhode Island, to the confusion of Dwan who caught on to what was taking place only when Esfandiari started laughing. However, this was not the end of Chevalier’s prop-betting experience at the WSOP, as Dwan and Esfandiari collaborated to have him touch Freedy Deeb’s bald head for 10 seconds, and later touch Phil Hellmuth for 10 seconds. By the end of the proceedings there were about forty people more interested in watching the “touching bet” than the tournament, including Dwan and Esfandiari.

Somehow Chevalier managed to touch, grope, and prod all three without incident and pocketed $300, not a bad day on the rail, although personally I would have asked for an increase in the amount of money each time!
