Selbst defends title at NAPT Mohegan Sun
From Day 1 on it appeared Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst was on a collision course with destiny as she was amongst the chip-leaders throughout the 2011 NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event, and after making the final table she seemingly would not be denied her second NAPT title, having won the same event a year ago.
After 7 Seasons and nearly 100 tournaments the PokerStars European Poker Tour there has yet to crown a repeat winner; now after a grand total of four tournaments for the PokerStars NAPT, Vanessa Selbst has become the first repeat winner on the tour!
On her way to the victory, and the $450,000 in prize-money, Selbst would have to navigate through a difficult final table that included 2010 NAPT Los Angeles winner Joe Tehan –also looking to become the first two-time winner on the NAPT—and hedge fund manager turned poker player Dan Shak, who would wind up as Selbst’s heads-up opposition.
Despite Shak holding a dominating chip-lead at the beginning of heads-up play, Selbst managed to double through Shak, and once she took control of the match she was able to finish him off rather expediently.
Here is a look at how the final table finished at the NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event:
1. Vanessa Selbst — $450,000
2. Dan Shak — $254,000
3. Tyler Kenney — $170,000
4. Thomas Hoglund Jr. — $120,000
5. Vincent Rubianes — $90,000
6. Joe Tehan — $70,000
7. Aaron Overton –$50,000
8. Steve O’Dwyer — $32,330
