Team PokerStar Pro Jason Mercier wins bracelet #2
John Juanda and Jason Mercier: That is the entire list of players who have come out victorious over the first 35 tournaments of the 2011 World Series of Poker that have previously won a WSOP bracelet. Mercier is the latest bracelet winner –his second career WSOP title—having won the $5k PLO 6-handed tournament, which was worth $619,575.
15 players took to the Rio poker tables on Wednesday to finish the three-day long tournament, and along with Mercier top poker pros Mike “Timex” McDonald, Chris Moorman, David Chui, David “Devilfish” Ulliott, Jared “harrington25” Bleznick, and Peter Jetten were all in the mix heading into the final day.
Mercier, who is still only 24 years-old –he seems much older considering the success he has already had in the poker world—has solidified his place as one of the top tournament poker players in the world with his second WSOP win, telling reporters, “It is important to me that everybody know I am one of the best. I feel like I am getting to that level if not already there,”
Here is a look at the final table payouts from the $5k PLO tournament:
1. Jason Mercier – $619,575
2. Hans Winzeler – $383,075
3. Steven Merrifield – $239,100
4. David Chiu – $156,628
5. Joseph Ressler – $105,967
