This is the second straight day that has required a tournament report, and if you recall I commented on the potential headline of “Chris Ferguson wins UKIPT Newcastle”. Well, that prediction came true as Ferguson (not the one you are thinking of) did in fact win the tournament, and will likely be answering questions about his role with Full Tilt poker in the coming months, something the 23 year-old from Edinburgh, Scotland knows nothing about!

You would think Chris Ferguson would be the biggest name at a final table (even if it wasn’t the Chris Ferguson you’re thinking of) but with November Niner Sam Holdem in the mix the UKIPT Newcastle Main Event had a tough final table lineup indeed. After a tumultuous week the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event is in the books, and the PPT can now be added to the list of poker tournaments that showed a lot of promise but were simply unable to make it in the current poker economy. Small turnout for Day 1a of the WPT Grand Prix de Paris

Just 96 players registered for Day 1a of the WPT Grand Prix de Paris on Monday, but despite the small turnout there were plenty of big names in the field, and quite a few that landed near the top of the leader-board by the end of the day. In all, 51 of the 96 entrants advanced to Wednesday’s Day 2; here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts at the end of Day 1a:
