WSOP Hard-Stop Rule booed during $10k HORSE

With Fabrice Soulier and Shawn Buchanan battling for one of the most prestigious bracelets at the World Series of Poker, and therefore in poker, the $10k HORSE Championship was called to a halt due to the 10-Level Rule. Making matters much worse was the fact that Buchanan has just over 3-bets left in his stack!

Theoretically the two players could be returning to the Rio on Friday to play a single hand, which caused Soulier’s backers on the rail to boo vehemently when the tournament was halted –one railbird was heard yelling, “This is the stupidest rule ever!”

Soulier is poised to earn his first WSOP bracelet, while Buchanan is also going for bracelet #1, after cashing for the fourth time in the 2011 WSOP after an impressive eight cashes in the 2010 WSOP –which also included a runner-up finish.

Earlier at the final table Tom Dwan saw his chances for a WSOP bracelet –which would have millions in prop bets tied to it—dashed as he finished the tournament in 5th place.

Here is a look at the chip counts for the final two players as well as the payouts for the rest of the final table:

1. Fabrice Soulier – 6,290,000

2. Shawn Buchanan – 910,000

3. Andrey Zaichenko — $247,799

4. Daniel Ospina — $180,750

5. Tom Dwan — $134,480

6. Matthew Ashton — $101,813

7. Michael Binger — $78,328

8. Jacobo Fernandez — $61,160

9. Max Pescatori — $48,436
