Filippo Candio

Filippo Candio holds the record for being the first Italian to ever make the World Series of Poker final table. Filippo was born in 1986 in his home country, Italy. Filippo is first and formost a cash game player however after making the final table of the WSOP Main Event 2010 we would expect his focus to change a little.

Fillipo can often be seen playing middle stakes NL texas Holdem from around 2/5 to 10/20. He has seen great success in his cash game but mentioned that “Even though I’m a cash game player my dream was to make the final table of the WSOP Main Event.” Filippo has actually cashed one other World Series of Poker event which was the 1.5k NL holdem where he came 157th and took home over 3k prize money. Filippo has played quite a bit of poker in Italy but not too much in North America, this will work to his favour as not much is known about his game.

Candio’s claim to fame is that he is first place out of the top 30 poker players to make money in Italy. No one knows how much he will make from the WSOP but he is an experienced player who has a decent chip stack. Currently 6th, Filippo has a total of over 16 million chips, this will give him a little room for manoeuvre but he will have to make moves soon after play commences to stay in the running. Though he is not the favourite and his main game is cash he still has the skill to be a contender for the title. His number one goal is to release his own poker clothing line which might look a lot more realistic if he bags first place in the Main Event.
