Next month, December 2011, PokerStars will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary, and as is to be expected the #1 online poker room in the world is giving away a host of prizes spread across a number of different promotions in honor of their 10th birthday. The site came online on December 12th 2001 and after operating in the shadow of Party Poker during its beginning years was able to climb out of Party’s shadow in 2006 and has been the #1 online poker room in the world ever since.

Amongst the biggest announcements for the 10th Anniversary celebration will be a massive $10 million guaranteed Sunday Million tournament. The tournament will still feature a $215 buy-in but with a $10 million guarantee, including $2 million guaranteed to the winner, PokerStars is already billing this as the biggest Sunday Million tournament in its history.

PokerStars will also be giving away a whopping 100 prize-packages to the 2012 PokerStars PCA, with each package valued at $15,000. The PCA has grown into one of the most prestigious tournaments in poker over the past few years, and the 2012 PCA will take place from January 5th through the 14th, 2012.

On the PokerStars website, the face of Team PokerStars Pro had this to say on the site turning 10: “Amazing that it’s been 10 years! I’m very proud of my association with PokerStars, and this December’s 10th Anniversary Celebration is going to be a doozy… There will be tons of cash prizes for bankrolls of all sizes, plus giveaways and a $10 million Sunday Million event.”
