We were told in the movie Oceans 11 that you just don’t walk into a casino and rob the place, but that is precisely what happened at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas at around 4 PM Tuesday morning. According to the report in the New York Post a gunman approached a craps table wearing a motorcycle helmet, making off with an unknown amount of cash and Bellagio chips; a later report issued by the Las Vegas police put the amount stolen at $1.5 million in chips.

The strange twist to the story was that players near the incident continue to gamble before during and after the robbery. Perhaps they thought they were extras in Oceans 14. Witnesses stated the man left his motorcycle near the North valet station off of Flamingo Road; the armed robber then fled the scene heading west on Flamingo Rd.

Authorities have stated that they will be looking for anyone trying to cash large denomination Bellagio chips. According to Fox5Vegas.com: A spokesman for Bellagio owner MGM Resorts International noted that chips aren’t the same as cash, and said that “At some point they have to be redeemed.”

At this time the suspect is still at large in Las Vegas, police have released a 12 second video of the man leaving the casino on foot. Fox5Vegas.com also stated: “The robber is likely the same person who robbed the Suncoast Casino poker room cashier on Dec. 9, police said. In both robberies, a motorcycle was used and the suspect was described as a white man around 5 feet, 10 inches, tall. In that robbery, the robber netted less than $20,000. police said.”

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit its website.

Lucky for anyone who gambles online. They don’t have to worry about someone walking in and robbing you. As long as you play at the safest poker sites and gambling sites. You can even use a visa gift card poker sites to deposit.
