GSN debuts Doubles Poker Championship Saturday
The Game Show network is set to unveil a new type of poker game this Saturday at 9PM when the $50,000 buy-in Doubles Poker Championship is set to air. The format of the game has two partners playing a hand of poker against another team of two: One teammate will play the hand both pre-flop and on the Turn, with the other teammate taking over for the Flop and River –we’ll see how this innovation plays out, and more importantly how it plays out on TV!
Among the players scheduled to compete in the inaugural episode are Tony G –who seems to be on every episode of televised poker lately, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan, another televised poker mainstay Phil Hellmuth –hopefully Hellmuth and Tony G will be paired together, Phil Ivey, and Annette ‘Annette_15’ Obrestad. The winning team will pocket a cool $1 million for their efforts.
The complete lineup of 32 players includes: David Benyamine, Andy Bloch, Johnny Chan, David Chiu, Allen Cunningham, Annie Duke, Tom Dwan, Antonio Esfandiari, Chris Ferguson, Phil Galfond, Phil Gordon, Tony G, Gus Hansen, Jennifer Harman, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Phil Laak, Howard Lederer, Toto Leonidas, Andrew Lichtenberger, Erick Lindgren, Mike Matusow, Carlos Mortensen, Greg Mueller, Annette Obrestad, David Oppenheim, Vivek Rajkumar, Nick Schulman, Huckleberry Seed, Erik Seidel, Gavin Smith, and Justin Smith.
The 11-week telecast was filmed at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas.
