Fertitta Interactive announces launch of Ultimate Poker

An interesting press release landed in my inbox this morning, as Fertitta Interactive announced it would be launching an online gaming platform known as Ultimate Gaming, including an online poker arm dubbed Ultimate Poker.

The launch puts the company on the fast track to potentially obtaining an online poker license in the state of Nevada, and the company plans on launching Ultimate Poker this summer – this Friday is the official launch date, coinciding with UFC 148

The branding is obviously a play on one of the Fertitta’s other interests, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and along with the brick & mortar Station Casinos, the Fertittas should have a very strong presence in the online gaming market –the UFC is one of the most popular sports in the all-important 18-24 male demographic, which also happens to be right in the sweet-spot for online poker players.

The product has been in the works since the company purchased CyberArts Licensing LLC in October, and Tom Breitling, the Chairman of Fertitta Interactive, unveiled Ultimate Poker in an hour long presentation on Tuesday, where he announced Ultimate Poker will launch this Friday on Facebook (currently the page comes up as unavailable). You can read more about Breitling’s presentation at the Las Vegas Review-Journal website.

Here is a look at the complete press release I received today:

Ultimate Gaming’s First Product, Ultimate Poker, TO BE released This Summer

LAS VEGAS (June 20, 2012) – Fertitta Interactive, LLC announced today that it has launched Ultimate Gaming, which will focus on real money online games, social gaming, and digital entertainment in the United States and around the globe. The first of a series of offerings from Ultimate Gaming will include Ultimate Poker, which will be launched this summer.

Fertitta Interactive was established in 2010 by Frank Fertitta III, Lorenzo Fertitta, Tom Breitling and Tim Poster, who have worked together on various projects since the early 1990s. The Fertittas were original investors in Travelscape, the online travel company that was founded by Breitling and Poster and purchased by Microsoft’s Expedia, Inc. in 2000. The founders have a unique history of nurturing and developing businesses in the casino (Station Casinos and Golden Nugget), Internet (Travelscape/Expedia), and sports/entertainment (Ultimate Fighting Championship) industries.

“With our unique ability to leverage the overlapping demographics between online gaming, traditional gaming and the worldwide sports and entertainment brand of the UFC, Ultimate Gaming is ideally positioned to rapidly capture a significant following in the United States and throughout the globe,” said Tom Breitling, Chairman of Fertitta Interactive.

Breitling added that Ultimate Gaming is fully supportive of federal legislation to regulate online poker and that the company has filed for all relevant online gaming licenses in the State of Nevada.
