2004 WSOP final table participant Al Crux arrested
For the second time this year a professional poker player has been arrested on drug charges. Earlier this year it was Australian poker pro David Saab who was caught up in a cocaine smuggling ring when authorities arrested Saab and two others with 21 kilograms of cocaine.
Now, it’s a more familiar name in the poker world who has been arrested, this time for marijuana, as 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event final table member Al Crux (Crux finished 6th in the 2004 WSOP Main Event) along with his son Adam who were arrested by police in Dewitt, New York according to the Syracuse Post-Standard.
Crux and his son were arrested separately with 40 lbs of marijuana in there automobiles (the elder Krux with 25 lbs and the son with 15 lbs), as well as some 90 marijuana plants in their home. The Cruxes were charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana. The pair are currently being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center on $20,000 bail each.
Krux is a three-time WSOP Main Event final table participant, and has earned over $1 million in live tournament earnings for his career. Krux’s WSOP story in 2004 focused on how the long-time grinder had made peace with the children he had spent years overlooking –apparently Krux and his son Adam may want to rethink how they spend their “quality” time together.
