A look at Daniel Negreanu’s impressive WCOOP
One of poker’s top players had some high expectations going into the 2011 World Series of Poker, as Daniel Negreanu wrote at great length how he felt ready for the 6-week long tournament series. But after a disappointing performance –even with a pretty deep run in the Main Event—it seems Negreanu may have had the right feeling, but the wrong tournament series, considering Negreanu just turned in one of the best WCOOP performances in the history of the online tournament series!
Negreanu just finished up his 2011 WCOOP, ending the tournament series with an astonishing 15 cashes, including two final tables, pocketing a total of $119,931 on his way to a third-place finish in the PokerStars WCOOP Player of the Series race.
This feat was made all the more impressive by Negreanu’s revelation on his blog that “I ended up playing WCOOPs in four different countries in just a three week span. I started my WCOOP in Barcelona, then off to Montenegro, Budapest, and finally, locked myself up in a hotel room in London for the stretch run.”
Negreanu went on to say that, “In total, I played 52 of the 62 events and cashed 15 times, which I think ranked me second in number of cashes during the series,”
