A look back at the Poker Maximus tournament series
The 70-event Poker Maximus tournament series that recently wrapped on Lock Poker, and the rest of the Merge Gaming Network, was a huge success for the largest US-facing online poker network. The tournament series guaranteed $2.5 million in prize-pools, a number that the players at Merge Gaming easily eclipsed by the end of the tournament series.
The Poker Maximus series had an amazing finale, with the four tournaments that made-up the final Sunday’s action handing out over $1 million in prize-money. Amazingly the Main Event was only the second highest grossing tournament on the day, as the $109 Main Event was eclipsed by the $530 Superstack Tournament.
* Sun March 25th– Event #67 — Main Event – $109 Poker Maximus **Main Event** $200,000 Guaranteed and $50,000 Minimum to first place! 7500 Chip Starting Stack and 15 Minute Levels: The total prize-pool for the $109 Main Event reached $321,000
* Sun, Mar 25th — Event #68 Main Event – $530 Superstack Nlh – $200,000 Guaranteed 20 Minute Levels and 10000 Chip Starting Stacks: The total prize-pool for the $530 Superstack Event reached $402,500
In addition to these two massive tournaments, a third tournament also eclipsed the $250,000 mark, as the $215 High-Roller event topped off at $258,600. And the fourth tournament, the $10 buy-in Mini Main Event added $50,000 to the day’s tally as the tournament failed to reach it’s guarantee despite being the highest attended event of the day.
In addition to the huge sums of money won during the Poker Maximus series the Merge Gaming Network also awarded the top finishers on the Player of the Series different prize-packages. The top spot was claimed by a player using the screen-name “bewater” who maintained the top spot for most of the tournament series.
