APPT Queenstown Snowfest enters Day 2
After three starting days, each attracting roughly 40 players, the APPT Queenstown Snowfest tournament is ready to combine the remaining players for Day 2 of the Main Event. A total of 71 players are still in the hunt for the nearly $100k NZD that will be awarded to the winner of the tournament.
Day 1c saw something happen that I have never seen before in a major tournament; seven players who registered for the tournament failed to turn up, and were simply blinded off! While it’s not an unusual occurrence for one or two players to have a pressing matter that causes them to miss a tournament they pre-registered for, it’s definitely noteworthy when 16% of the field is a no-show!
Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts amongst the remaining players:
1. Alicia Sale — 91,750
2. Cole Swannack — 86,050
3. Koray Turker — 85,075
4. Jackson Zheng — 80,125
5. Ben Paurini — 77,225
6. Marcel Schreiner — 72,600
7. Matt Yates — 62,100
8. Daniel Laidlaw — 60,075
9. Octavian Voegele — 59,975
10. Charles Caris — 57,700
A total of 15 players will make the money in the tournament, earning anywhere from $6,000 NZD to $94,300 NZD for winning the tournament:
* 1st place: $94,300
* 2nd place: $60,000
