Since 2007 the online poker community Pokerspace.com has been pitting teams of poker players against one another for a shot at getting a free trip to Las Vegas in their unique poker team competition, the Crew Cup competition. The poker social network just released information on its newest Crew Cup including another trip for 6 to Vegas and a sponsorship deal with UB and Absolute Poker.

The Cereus poker rooms will be hosting weekly team qualifiers in which crews will battle it out for an entry into the Crew Cup Finals league where one lucky crew of 6 players will win a 5 night Las Vegas trip during the WSOP to represent Pokerspace and take down the Online Forum Challenge (OFC) live events. The Crew Cup is similar to the World Team Poker competition that held its first event in May 2010 with the Johnny Chan led Chinese team taking down the event. Pokerspace’s Crew Cup is set up online in a very similar fashion, but allows regular online players to gather up friends and try their best to score a trip to Vegas.

The Crew Cup 5: Owning Vegas tournament series officially kicks off this weekend with crews going at each other on Absolute Poker in 2 Practice events with the winners earning free entry into the first Crew Cup Final Qualifier the following week.

So far Pokerspace has sent two crews to Vegas and two other crews around the world on live poker trips including a Mexican Riviera poker cruise. Pokerspace is based on a poker community and the Crew Cup is their way of bringing friends together to compete as one. Last year’s Crew Cup brought over a hundred crews against one another giving away thousands of dollars in trip money and cash sponsorships.
