Daily Grind: Donations, Phil Ivey’s Leggos and more

Poker News BoyEvery day the poker world is inundated with more news, reports, and gossip, than any of us can read. At PokerNewsBoy.com we understand that there are only so many hours in the day, and only so much time you can set aside to follow all of the stories taking place, so we have come up with the Daily Grind as a solution. The Daily Grind will make sure you don’t miss any of the more obscure poker stories, wrapping up the day in poker in one neat, concise, column.

Today I’ll take a look at a number of stories including IveyPoker.com’s purchase of Leggo Poker, a generous gesture by 2+2’s Mason Malmuth, and the return of a WSOP Champion to PokerStars.

IveyPoker.com continues to expand

This past week IveyPoker.com made yet another announcement, but this time it wasn’t simply an announcement of their latest sponsored poker pro. This time the announcement had a bit more teeth to it, detailing the site’s acquisition of Leggo Poker, an online poker training site fronted by Aaron “AEJones” Jones.

Leggo Poker will now be rebranded, carrying the name Ivey League, but it will continue to be a subscription-based online poker training site.

Mason Malmuth’s generosity

We brought you the saddening news of the 22Q Ironman Podcast last week, where one of the co-hosts is likely to have stolen some of the funds destined for the charity, and since the news broke and the poker world became aware of this tragedy many people have stepped-up, including 2+2 owner Mason Malmuth, who donated $2,500 to the charity to make-up for the amount of money that was stolen.

Other people have also donated, including 2+2 member PTLou, who wrote a check for $1,500 and an anonymous donor from PokerFraudAlert.com, who donated $3,500. The charity has already more than recouped the amount missing; a true bright spot in such dark circumstances.

Joe Cada returns to PokerStars

Over the years PokerStars has signed virtually every WSOP Main Event Champion either before their historic win or in the immediate aftermath. A few of those players have gotten away (Greg Merson, Jamie Gold and Jerry Yang), and a few others decided to leave PokerStars over the years (Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, Peter Eastgate, and Joe Cada) but perhaps none were let go as quickly as Joe Cada, the 2009 Main Event Champion who lasted just a few years at the site.

After a sponsorless year Cada is now back at PokerStars, having agreed to terms with the site once again. So look for Joe Cada to be patched-up at major events around the globe.
