Dublin To Host European Short-Handed Championships
This September will see the return of the European Short-Handed 6 Max Championships hosted by D4 Events. The Ballsbridge Inn, Dublin, will again be the venue for the third renewal of this event and organisers are hoping for a record breaking turnout this time around with a capacity of 720 places available.
The first championships were held in 2009 when 141 players battled it out, but last year there was a massive turnout of 311 players, an event which was won by a home grown player, Irishman Alan Trueick. This years event will also give players the option of re-entry if they bust out early, so the prizepool of €150,000 could well be in danger. Winamax are putting up the guarantee and satellites are already up and running. In fact some 75 places have already been won, and with the promise of at least three seats guaranteed every week until now and September this years numbers could break all records.
The Main Event gets under way on Thursday 22nd September and has a buy-in of €550, but on the Wednesday evening at 8pm there will be a €60 super satellite to the main event, where players will also have the option of one re-buy and one add-on or two re-buys at a cost of €50. There will be a one hour clock for the main event and a deep stack of 20,000 starting chips and a choice of two day ones. Day two will be on Saturday 24th and the action will start at 1pm and it will come to an end the following day with the start time again being 1pm.
There will also be some great side action taking place with a €300 two day event taking place on Saturday and Sunday, and on Sunday there will also be a €200 event. All events will use the same structure of blinds but the side events will have varying clocks of 40 and 30 minutes. For more details you can visit the European Short-Handed website for news of online qualifiers or you will soon be able to qualify live at a poker club near you.
