Duhamel’s excellent adventure continues at PCA

Jonathan Duhamel went into the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure looking to put 2011 behind him; not because the 2010 World Series of Poker Champion had poor results in 2011, but because of the violent home invasion and robbery he went through just prior to Christmas. From his results in the Bahamas, it seems that Duhamel’s Caribbean Adventure was just what the doctor ordered.

Duhamel’s first success at the 2012 PCA was in the $100k Super-High-Roller tournament where he finished in 4th place out of the 29 entrants, good enough for a $313k cash. Just a few days later he went on to finish 5th in a $5,000 No limit Holdem TURBO tournament, netting the 24 year-old Canadian another $17k, and the following day he won the $5,000 No Limit Holdem event worth a further $240k.

Now Duhamel finds himself at the final table of the $25k High-Roller tournament, with at least another $108k in prize-money locked-up, and the potential to pocket the $1.1 million prize that will be awarded to the winner.

Now, this is a High-Roller tournament, so Duhamel is far from the only top-flight player at the final table. Joining Duhamel for Saturday’s final table will be chip-leader Jason Koon, one of poker’s top NLHE players Ike Haxton, and online superstar and recent Guinness World Record setter Randy “nanonoko” Lew. Not to mention Nicholas Fiero, Michael Telker, Leonid Bilokur, and Govert Metaal who is making his second straight High-Roller final table.

Here is a look at the final table chip-counts and seating assignments for the $25k High-Roller tournament:

1. Isaac Haxton — 762,000

2. Leonid Bilokur — 1,139,000

3. Randy Lew — 197,000

4. Jonathan Duhamel — 1,530,000

5. Nicolas Fierro — 1,181,000

6. Jason Koon — 1,646,000

7. Michael Telker — 397,000

8. Govert Metaal — 545,000

Last year Will Molson finally broke through with a win in this event after finishing in second place the previous two years! This year Duhamel is looking to make it three in a row for the Canadians, as well as jump out to a great start for the 2012 Player of the Year awards.

Saturday marks the final day of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, with most of the poker world heading on to Australia for the Aussie Millions tournament series. Once again the PCA did not disappoint, racking up impressive numbers, drawing the biggest names in poker to the Bahamas, and putting on a terrific tournament series over the past two weeks. Here is a look at the final day’s tournaments scheduled at the 2012 PCA:

* $2,000 + $100 “Battleship” Main Event tournament

* $270 + $30 No Limit TURBO tournament

* $10,000 + $200 High-Roller No Limit Holdem 6-Max TURBO tournament

* Invitation-only PokerStars PCA Party
