EPT Deauville Main Event and High-Roller in action

EPTThe PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Deauville Main Event is heading into Day 5, with just 23 players remaining in the hunt for the prestigious title and the €770,000 that will be awarded to the winner. The remaining players are relative unknowns, but for those of you starving for big names you can head across the room to the High-Roller tournament, where 83 players registered for the €10,300 event on Thursday.

EPT Deauville Main Event

With just 23 players remaining in the Main Event in Deauville the action is heating up, and it will be yet another EPT event with a first-time winner. Amazingly after 8+ seasons the EPT has yet to have a single repeat winner.

Here is a look at the Top 10 Chip Counts heading into Day 5 on the EPT Deauville Main Event:

1. Cyril Andre — 2,108,000

2. Remi Castaignon — 1,997,000

3. Hugo Pingray — 1,864,000

4. Aurelien Guiglini — 1,671,000

5. Matthieu Herve — 1,194,000

6. Enrico Rudelitz — 1,100,000

7. Glen Cymbaluk — 1,100,000

8. Gordon Huntly — 1,015,000

9. Eilert Eilertsen — 1,000,000

10. James Mitchell — 990,000

The plan on Friday is for the field to play down to the final table of eight, which will then reconvene on Saturday to determine the winner.

EPT Deauville €10k High-Roller

Of the 83 participants who registered for the High-roller tournament 51 will return on Friday for Day 2 of the three-day tournament. As is typically the case the field for the High-Roller event was filled with some of the biggest names in the game including Kevin Vandersmissen, JCAlvarado, Marvin Rettenmaier, David Kitai, Bryn Kenney, Kevin MacPhee, Eugene Katchalov, Ana Marquez, Victoria Coren, Martin Jacobson, and Todd Terry, all of whom made it through to Day 2. On the other side of the coin were the players who hit the rail on Day 1 including Steve O’Dwyer, Dominik Nitsche, Ionel Anton, and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

Players will have until the end of the first level on Day 2 to register or reenter the event (14 players reentered on Day 1) at which point registration will be closed and the prize-pool finalized.
