EPT Grand Final Super-High-Roller hits 50 entries

ept_monte_carloA $100,000 price tag didn’t deter 42 players from entering the $100,000 Super-High-Roller tournament at the 2013 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final, not to mention eight players deciding that one entry wasn’t enough and decided to fire two bullets, including Phil Ivey who bought back in just before Day 2 of the tournament got underway.

With 50 entries the Super-High-Roller is the third tournament of the EPT Grand Final tournament series that will award a seven-figure first-place prize, with the winner set to receive a €1.7 million payday, and even the runner-up will pocket over €1 million.

Just seven people would cash in the tournament, which meant the tournament would be playing down to the final seven on Tuesday, guaranteeing everyone who returns for Wednesday’s official final table would be in the money. It was a long day at the tables to get down to seven players, and it was Erik Seidel who had the bad luck of finishing in 8th place.

While the players were trying to avoid the over €300,000 money bubble, Jason Mercier was apparently trying to win the tournament, considering he racked-up over 4 million chips by the end of the day, nearly double Vladimir Troyanovsky, Sorel Mizzi, and Max Altergott, all of whom finished the day with just over 2 million chips, while Tim Adams, Scott Seiver, and Mike Watson will need a quick double-up on Wednesday, as all three are nursing short-stacks.

Earlier in the tournament series Mercier won the Open-Face Chinese Poker tournament, defeating 68 other players to win the tournament and the over $60,000 first-place prize-money. So it seems the Team PokerStars Pro may be getting hot at the perfect time, with the WSOP just around the corner.

Here is a look at the final table seating assignments and chip counts from the EPT Grand Final Super-High-Roller event:

* Seat 1: Timothy Adams — 830,000

* Seat 2: Sorel Mizzi — 2,140,000

* Seat 5: Max Altergott — 2,110,000

* Seat 6: Scott Seiver — 625,000

* Seat 7: Mike Watson — 480,000

And here is a look at the payout schedule for the final table:

* 2nd place: €1,115,700

* 3rd place: €679,100

* 4th place: €485,100
