Final table set at PokerStars EPT Grand Finale

Posted by Steve Ruddock on May 13, 2011 Posted in Poker News | No Comments »

Even though the final table of the 2011 EPT Grand Finale lacks the star-power of a Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, or Patrik Antonius, the final eight players do possess impressive resumes in their own right, and if their play throughout the tournament is any indication you can expect a very exciting final table!

Headlining the final table are two Team PokerStars Pros, including Brazilian Alex Gomes who has the chance to join Gavin Griffin and Roland DeWolfe as poker’s only Triple Crown winners –Gomes has won the 2009 Bellagio Cup as well as a WSOP bracelet in 2008 and needs only an EPT title to complete the trifecta.

The other notable players joining Gomes at the final table are Team PokerStars Spain member Juan Macerias, who will assuredly be the fan favorite playing in his native Spain; and Andrew “azntrackr” Li who became the fastest player in history to reach Supernova Elite status on PokerStars earlier this year –accomplishing the feat in just 59 days.

Here is a look at the chip counts heading into the final table of the EPT Grand Finale:

1.    Ivan Freitez — 5,995,000
2.    Juan Maceiras — 3,150,000
3.    Andrey Danilyuk — 2,645,000
4.    Eugene Yanayt — 2,420,000
5.    Torsten Brinkmann — 1,875,000
6.    Alex Gomes — 1,670,000
7.    Tamas Lendvai — 1,655,000
8.    Andrew Li — 1,210,000

The final table is being streamed live, as well as being available beginning at 11PM CET on a number of European television channels.
