Good turnout for Day 1a of PokerStars EPT Berlin
After last year’s tournament in Berlin was robbed by four masked men carrying a hodgepodge of various weapons, the 2011 PokerStars EPT Berlin Main Event probably had one of the easiest bars to clear when it came to having a successful opening day! All kidding aside, Day 1a of the EPT Berlin saw a solid 315 players register for the tournament –slightly off of last year’s pace when 389 players registered on Day 1a—giving the tournament organizers hope that they could still exceed last year’s record-setting turnout of 915 players.
Day 1a saw a number of top poker players jump out to quick starts, among them chip-leader Christian Dragomir who was the only player to top the 200,000 mark on Day 1a. Other notable players in attendance for the first flight were Toby Lewis, Pierre Neuville, Tony G, Kevin Stani, Dominik Nitsche, Chris Moorman, Jeff Sarwer, Michael Tureniec, and Juha Helpi. Which means the vast majority of Team PokerStars Pros will likely be participating in Day 1b of the tournament.
Here is a look at the chip leaders in the EPT Berlin from Day 1a:
1. Cristian Dragomir — 205,500
2. Mayu Roca Uribe — 190,000
3. Max Heinzelmann — 186,400
4. Vegard Haland Vestvik — 178,100
5. Martin Jacobson — 177,000
6. Nedzib Suman — 154,700
7. Antonio Buonanno — 153,100
8. Frank Bröderdorf — 147,600
9. McLean Karr — 145,800
10. Mathias Kuerschner — 140,500
