Gus Hansen is one of the most recognizable names in poker, but the legendary Danish poker player is also known for his online struggles, especially in the highest stakes online games –Hansen’s last winning year at the online poker tables was in 2006—but since late 2010 Hansen has been online poker’s most successful player.

Most of his damage has come at the $500/$1,000 CAP PLO tables on Full Tilt Poker where he has been dominating the best players in the world. According to the tracking site www.highstakesdb.com Hansen is up $4,196,483 in 2011, and since October 1, 2010 Hansen is on a $6 million upswing!

The player that saw waiting lists grow when he sat down has now turned the tables, and now finds himself avoided by all but the very best players. Hansen has credited a recommitment to poker for his turnaround, and he has also been practicing much better game selection; no longer blindly jumping into the highest stakes game available, Hansen now spends most of his time in games where he has an edge –CAP PLO and Draw Poker.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Hansen’s run is that the online action has been fairly quiet –as far as high-stakes action goes—unlike in the past when players like Isildur1, Guy Laliberte (in the guise of all of his assorted aliases) and company were driving the action and producing six and seven-figure pots.
