Event #8 –a lowly $1,500 No Limit Holdem tournament– was shaping up to go down as a very significant tournament at the 2010 World Series of Poker. Unfortunately, the man trying to add to his record 11 WSOP bracelets, Phil Hellmuth, was unable to make it to the final table.

With massive fields competing in every No Limit event –Hellmuth’s specialty—Phil’s chances at bracelets are getting fewer and farther between, but he always seems to be near his next win.

Play started on the final day of the tournament with 25 players returning to the Rio poker tables, and the Poker Brat Phil Hellmuth sitting comfortably in 5th place. Hellmuth just couldn’t get anything going throughout the day and finally bowed out in 15th place, short of the final table, but adding to his other WSOP record for cashes, which now stands at 76 –10 ahead of Men Nguyen who is sitting in 2nd place.

The winner of the event was Pascal LeFrancois of Canada –the second Canadian to pick up a WSOP in bracelet in just 8 events. With a number of countries represented at the final table: The US, Israel, Brazil, Canada, Australia and England.
Andrew Cohen –the winner of last year’s Casino Employee Event—finished in 20th place.
