Hidden Headlines: Binion’s online, Hackers and more
The headlines may not be huge this week but there is a lot going on in the poker world as summer comes to a close (so expect another Hidden Headlines column in the next day or two as well). Here is a look at some of the stories you may have missed over the past week.
Binion’s applies for online gaming license in Nevada
The birthplace of the World Series of Poker, Binions, has applied for an online poker license in the state of Nevada. Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel in Downtown Las Vegas has applied for a license as an operator and service provider in the state’s soon to be launched online poker industry. There is no word yet on whether Binion’s has partnered with an existing online poker room or software provider, or if they intend to create their platform.
Lock Poker player hacked; six-figures stolen
A thread on the 2+2 poker forum has poker players living in fear of yet another hacking scandal. 2+2 member Micah J took to the forums to explain how a hacker infiltrated his computer and managed to steal and chip-dump about $100,000 from his Lock Poker account.

Tony G vs. the Poker Brat Triathlon update
After two events of their Triathlon in Malta Tony G and Phil Hellmuth were tied 1-to-1 as Tony G decimated Phil Hellmuth in a three-point shooting contest while “Friend of Phelps” Hellmuth displayed some remarkable swimming skills.

Nelson Burtnick pleads guilty
Former Full Tilt Poker payment processor chief, Nelson Burtnick pleaded guilty in court this week to knowingly deceiving banks. According to the Wall Street Journal Burtnick told US Magistrate Judge Gabriel Gorenstein in New York that Full Tilt “had to do this type of deception to enable US poker players to load their accounts,” Burtnick also told the court, “I know that what I did was wrong.”
Microgaming and PKR Go Mobile
Recently both Microgaming and PKR have announced mobile versions of their software are in the works. Microgaming is working on bringing their fast-fold poker variant, Blaze Poker, to their customers, while PKR has announced a mobile casinos option including roulette.
