Isildur1 wins back to back PokerStars SCOOP events
Team PokerStars Pro Viktor Blom is best known for his ultra-high-stakes cash-game exploits, but after his run in the SCOOP tournament series at PokerStars early this week, Blom may suddenly find his tournament skills the talk of the online poker forums. Blom, who plays under his infamous screen-name “Isildur1” at PokerStars won not one, but two SCOOP tournaments on successive days this week!
Blom’s first victory came in Event #2 of the SCOOP series, the mid-buy-in $215 NLHE tournament. The tournament saw a huge field of 8,240 players and by the end of Day 1 of the event Blom was already in contention. On Day 2 Blom continued to run good, taking over the chip-lead heading into the final table, and then dominating the final table for the wire-to-wire win. The win was the first major online tournament victory of Blom’s career, but as you’ll see below he was far from finished!
The very next day Blom was playing in another Day 2 of a SCOOP tournament, this time he was one of the 486 players who entered Event #3 of the SCOOP series, a $530 rebuy tournament. For the second straight day, and the second straight tournament, Blom was dominant on Day 2, and entered his second final table in as many days as the chip-leader.
However, this time around Blom would face a little more push-back from his opponents, and the young phenom would see his chip-stack go up and down like an elevator for most of the final table. Heading into heads-up play Blom was facing nearly a 1 million chip deficit (3.1 million for “Ruxandescu” to Blom’s 2.3 million), which later became a 4.2 million to 1.3 million edge for “Ruxandescu”. And then Isildur1 began to run-good, really good! After two successive double-ups Blom overtook his opponent for the chip-lead and finished him off soon thereafter.
