The Epic Poker League is not only interested in revolutionizing live poker tournaments, since with the creation of the Global Poker Index (GPI) it appears they are also interested in revolutionizing live poker tournament rankings!

The GPI is a rankings system of live tournament results over a 36-month period that factors in Buy-in, finishing position, and also how recent the result occurred to determine who the top 300 poker players in the world are. Leading the way in the inaugural rankings is Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier, and looking at the entire list it becomes readily apparent that the GPI will likely be the model for most ranking systems in the future.
