Kristen Bicknell, GPI Female POY (2018) and Canadian POY, got very close to realizing her big goal of winning her first $1 million. She emerged as one of finalist in the inaugural $25k PokerStars Players Championship but busted in the 11th place and collected a prize of $328,500.

Bicknell Gets Off To A Great Start In 2019

If she had finished in sixth, she would have won over a million dollars and accomplished her goal of taking down her first $1 million in prize money. The PSPC which just finished in the Bahamas was billed as the biggest poker tournament in the world and the player who won the event was Ramon Colillas who took home $5.1 million in prize money. There was a lot of money at stake with the second place going to French player Julien Martini who won $2,974,000 and Philippines player Marc Rivera took the third place with ($2,168,000.

Speaking about her experiences, Bicknell said that Day 1 and Day 2 were quite smooth, unlike Day 3 when the going got rough. Calling it a real tough challenge she said that the cards were just not in her favor and that she just could not get into any position to collect chips. But she survived and returned on Day 4, which wasn’t as bad as Day 3, but wasn’t as good either. Although she couldn’t go over 30 big blinds, she didn’t go under 13, spending most of the time fighting against the shortstack.

On the bubble, a number of players realized that the prize pool was going to get very large indeed. Bicknell said that it felt like everyone was running a marathon. The excitement and adrenalin rush is what Bicknell loves about playing high stakes poker. While some poker players cannot handle the pressure and crack under it, Bicknell enjoys and thrives in it.

Will Bicknell Hit The 7 Figure Mark In 2019?

Although her dream of winning a seven-figure prize still remains a dream, she had a great time in the Bahamas. So far, the biggest prize she has ever won was $290,000 and she said that she feels that she had plenty of opportunities to win a bigger prize.

Bicknell now has over $2.6 million in career prize money but she is very keen on a 7 figure payout. One of the few successful female poker pros in the game, Bicknell doesn’t want to spend all her life playing poker as she feels that it cannot be done long term as she finds the pace to hectic and mentally draining.

She wants to get married, settle down and start a family which will be difficult if she continues to play poker on regular basis. That isn’t going to happen anytime soon as she confirmed that she still feels very passionate about playing poker and will push towards her dream of making 7 figures and building a nice nest egg for her and her family.
