With just about two months to go before the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) tournament series begins, an eighth bracelet event has been added to the schedule which was first announced back in May. The new event will be a €1,000 buy-in Ladies Tournament. This will be the first time the WSOPE has hosted a Ladies Tournament, something that has been a staple at the WSOP series in Las Vegas since 1977:

“We first offered a Ladies event at the Vegas WSOP in 1977, and felt it was the right time to add this tradition to WSOPE,” WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said in a press release issued today, adding, “We need to do more to promote ladies involvement with the game, and with the many breakout stars in the region, it feels like a women’s European championship is long overdue.”

The WSOPE has bounced around Europe in its seven year existence, with the 2013 marking the third separate venue to host the tournament series. From 2007-2010 the WSOPE took place in London, England, and for the past two years the WSOPE has called Cannes, France home. The2013 WSOPE will remain in France, but this time around will be held just outside of Paris at the Casino Barrière Enghien-les-Bains.
