The Global Poker Index (GPI) has seen another shakeup at the top as Jason Mercier has reclaimed the #1 spot from Bertrand “ElkY” Grosspellier who fell to #3 on this week’s list, being bumped by Mercier as well as Erik Seidel.

The GPI uses a rolling three-year format to determine a player’s overall ranking on their Top 300 list, looking at all qualifying live tournaments in that period, and placing a higher emphasis on recent results. Because of the rolling format –tournaments that occurred precisely three-years from the current date are wiped away; players’ rankings are constantly in flux day-to-day.

Here is a look at the current Top 10 on the GPI:

1. Jason Mercier — 2654.92

2. Erik Seidel — 2575.26

3. Bertrand Grospellier — 2507.85

4. Eugene Katchalov — 2378.44

5. Fabrice Soulier — 2193.59

6. Samuel Stein — 2168.85

7. Sorel Mizzi — 2115.12

8. Thomas Marchese — 2097.10

9. David ‘Bakes’ Baker — 2027.32

10. John Juanda — 2013.63

One player who rocketed up the standings thanks to his win in the inaugural Epic Poker League Main Event, with its $1 million first-place prize, was David “Chino” Rheem. Rheem vaulted over 100 places thanks to the win, landing in the #29 spot overall.

Two other players who vaulted into the Top 100 were Gavin Smith, who is now in 52nd place after jumping 50 spots, and Hoyt Corking, who jumped 39 spots to #62 on the GPI.
