Mickey “Mement_Mori” Petersen rages about banks

Petersen is not setting out to create an Occupy Denmark movement or anything along those lines, but the Danish poker phenom has had his own issues with a certain banking giant recently.

So, even though this week’s bizarre poker story has to do with a poker player and a bank, but likely not in the way you are thinking. Team PokerStars Pro Mickey Petersen (known in the online poker world as “Mement_Mori”) went on a bit of tirade against one of the UK’s best-known banks this week after Lloyds TSB declined to open an account for the poker star!

I’m not sure what the reasoning for Lloyds TSB refusal was (did they suspect the hundreds of thousands that would be moving through the Dane’s account would be laundered money???) Petersen was especially unhappy with the fact that it was a Lloyd’s employee who first suggested he go to the bank to open an account after moving to the UK.

Here is a quick look at the Twitter tirade Petersen leveled at Lloyds TSB:

“Hey @LloydsTSBOnline. Maybe you shouldn’t suggest to me that I open an account over Twitter when you turn me down because of my profession,”

“And treat me like a criminal. I had all the appropriate documents, sponsorship contract, prior bank statements and it made no difference,”

“Wouldn’t recommend that bank to anyone (especially not poker players), regardless of profession everyone deserves a respectful treatment,”
