Partouche Poker Tour draws 579 entrants

With a €4 million guarantee the 579 players who registered for the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event over the two starting days easily eclipsed that number, generating a total prize-pool of €4,342,500. However, this number is way off of last year’s pace, which saw 764 players ante-up the €7,500 buy-in. Despite the drastic decrease in attendance the winner of the 2011 Partouche Poker Tour Main Event will receive €1,000,000 prize.

Many of the biggest names in poker registered for the tournament including Phil Hellmuth, 2010 Partouche Poker Tour champion Vanessa Selbst, Jason Mercier, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, and Carlos Mortensen. One of the entrants on Day 1b, David “Chino” Rheem, surges toward the top of the leader-board, accumulating over 120k in chips by the end of the day. Rheem is coming off a $1 million score in the inaugural Epic Poker League Main Event and could repeat that performance with a win in the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event.

Some other big names that managed to build up an impressive chip-stack on their starting day were, Arnaud Mattern, Olivier Busquet, Freddy Deeb, Tobias Reinkemeier, Vanessa Selbst, Jason Mercier, Daniel Cates, and William Thorson.

Once the final table is decided, the Partouche Poker Tour will once again go on a hiatus with the final table members returning in November to battle for the $1 million first-place prize. You may remember that during the interim last year Ali Tekintamgac was disqualified from the Partouche Poker Tour final table for allegedly cheating.

Stay tuned for more results from the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event as results come in.
