Partouche Poker Tour finalist disqualified
Live poker is rigged! Or, probably closer to the truth is the fact that there are cheating scandals to be uncovered; which is precisely what happened leading up to the Partouche Poker Tour’s Season 3 Grand Finale set to take place in Cannes, France this weekend.
After reviewing video tapes leading up to the final table Partouche Poker Tour officials have determined that German poker player Ali Tekintamgac was using spotters on the floor in the guise of reporters to signal Tekintamgac what his opponents were holding.
This is not the first time Tekintamgac has found himself in hot water. Tekintamgac was asked to leave the EPT Tallinn tournament after tournament officials suspected he was using this same trick to gain information about his opponents’ hole-cards. Shaun Deeb was the first to bring the incident to light on the 2+2 poker forums, although he withheld the specifics of the incident, which caused him to be widely mocked –an all too common occurrence on the 2+2 poker forums.
According to PokerNews.com, Tekintamgac’s chips will be forfeited, and tournament officials will either divide the €110,300 in 9th place prize-money amongst the remaining players, or possibly donate it to charity. Tekintamgac could also face criminal charges, since the video evidence was turned over to local authorities.
Whatever happens, you can expect the fallout from this incident will cause major changes in who can be on the tournament floor, as well as how close to the action they can get.
