PCA Main Event final table set, High-Roller kicks-off
Sunday’s final table for the 2013 PokerStars PCA Main Event is now set, and although it may be lacking in star-power, the final eight competitors have undergone a trial by fire, and proven they have what it takes to win one of the most sought after titles in poker along with the $1.8 million that will be awarded to the Champion of the PokerStars PCA Main Event.
Falling by the wayside on Saturday were the handful of notable players that were among the 21 players who took their seat on Day 5 of the tournament, including Robert Mizrachi, Olivier Busquet, Manig Loeser, Mohsin Charania, and Darren Elias. Eddy Sabat’s day came to an end with a 17th place finish, his best ever finish, and the third year in a row where Sabat has finished in the Top 40 of the PCA Main Event: in 2011 he finished 30th and in 2012 he finished 40th.
Leading the way into the final table will be Jerry Wong who is the chip-leader after bagging-up 7.4 million chips, while Yann Dion is the most notable name remaining in the hunt for the title, along with WPT Montreal winner Jonathan Roy and Owen Crowe. Here is a look at the final table chip counts heading into Sunday:
1. Jerry Wong – 7,400,000
2. Joel Micka – 6,475,000
3. Andrey Shatilov – 3,220,000
4. Owen Crowe – 2,900,000
5. Joao Nogueira – 2,890,000
6. Yann Dion – 2,535,000
7. Dimitar Danchev – 1,995,000
8. Jonathan Roy – 1,525,000
$25k High-Roller Tournament
Also in action on Saturday were the participants in the very-popular $25k High-Roller tournament; which has historically been one of the best attended $25k buy-in tournaments in poker – in fact the 2013 PCA $25k high-roller drew more participants than the WPT Championship at the Bellagio. The 2013 version of the tournament attracted 198 players (including reentries) on Day 1 and at the end of the day only 80 players remained. Players will still have a chance to buy into the tournament up until the start of Day 2, so expect the field to grow even larger and the total prize-pool to be somewhere around $5 million when all is said and done.
Here is as look at the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 2 of the tournament:
1. Vladimir Troyanovsky – 349,000
2. Mike Watson – 282,500

4. Shawn Buchanan – 240,000
5. Joey Weissman – 237,200
6. Shaun Deeb – 213,900
7. Chris Hunichen – 210,000
