Phil Hellmuth meets the former President

On Saturday Phil Hellmuth went about his usual Twitter name-dropping, but this time the name was a little bigger than usual, as Hellmuth Tweeted that he was on his way to meet former US President George W. Bush. A little later on a second Tweet appeared along with a picture of Hellmuth and the former president flanked by former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice:

“WOW! Gave George Bush a signed book + signed beer can at his library at SMU + we hit it off really well! Found him to be witty + engaging… “

“Pic: me answering questions from George Bush + Condi Rice. George tucked my book into his inner jacket pocket!”

Hellmuth seems a bit out of place in the picture wearing a long black leather jacket and baseball hat, and I’m curious whose idea the signed copy of his book –and signed beer???—was?

Hellmuth was attending an event for the former President at the Bush Library at SMU, and judging by the picture he posted one has to wonder what was being said: Apparently Tony G thought the same thing, as he created a $100 contest on his blog to the person who could come up with the best caption for the picture! Tony also opined on why Hellmuth feels the need to name-drop, a la another Tony G foil David “Devilfish Uliott.
